Our Mission
On behalf of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Dean of the Faculty, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) offers professional support and services to facilitate research, scholarly projects, and creative endeavors undertaken by faculty, staff, and students.
Our Services
- Develop research capabilities through policies, procedures, and faculty programs to foster research and scholarship excellence.
- Provide comprehensive services such as identification of funding opportunities, and offer consultative services in crafting grant proposals.
- Facilitate grant award administration and ensure compliance with the Business Office, fiscal administrators, and research compliance committees.
- Develop and implement robust policies and procedures for sponsored projects, ensuring they address regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Offer faculty and staff education, training, and ongoing support in research principles and best practices.
Pre-Award Services
- Distribute information on funding announcements and assist in identifying potential funding opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support in the development of research/grant proposals and contracts.
- Manage the proposal submission process efficiently.
- Support and streamline post-submission activities to ensure a smooth transition.
- Supply commonly required forms and essential institutional data for proposal completion.
Post-Award Services
- Research administration collaborates with project leaders to ensure compliance with funding regulations and manage non-fiscal post-award services.
- Financial management of grants involves setting up accounts, reviewing expenses, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
- Fiscal Administrators support budget management, payroll, and other financial tasks, with project investigators ultimately responsible for award management.
- The Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversees human subject research, ensuring it meets U.S. government standards and can approve, modify, or disapprove projects.
- The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) ensures ethical treatment and compliance in research involving vertebrate animals, while institutional research supports strategic planning and decision-making.
