You are receiving this crime warning as part of St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s commitment to providing campus related crime information, in compliance with the federal Clery Act (Jeanne Clery disclosure of campus security policy and campus crime statistics act).
Resident hall staff reported finding a charred piece of paper in a bulletin board in Dorchester Dorm on April 4, 2016 at 8:30 p.m. after investigating what smelled like something burning. We are issuing this precaution in light of recent incidents in Dorchester Dorm. The incident did not cause an alarm activation nor is the cause of the fire known at this time.
While nothing is failsafe, here are some suggestions everyone may want to consider.
- If you see anyone or anything suspicious contact Public Safety right away.
- Do not prop open exterior doors or allow building access to unauthorized persons.
- When a building fire alarm sounds please evacuate the building immediately.
