- Giselle Harris ’25 is working with Dr. Tickle on her SMP exploring how cultural norms within the Latine community are related to environmental attitudes and behavior.
2023-2024 Student IDE Research
- Hayley McKulka ’24 worked with Dr. Howansky on her SMP in which she tested visual perceptions of Black transgender men.
- In Mia Azurin’s ’24 SMP working with Dr. Howansky, she tested whether labeling immigrants as “refugees” or “migrants” influenced the extent to which people were willing to provide support.
- Amira Whitaker ’24 worked with Dr. Ehman on her SMP in which she assessed differences in subjective well-being and academic performance among between Black students attending Predominantly White Institutions of higher education (PWIs) and those attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
- Bri Corbin ’24 worked with Dr. Ehman on her SMP, wherein she examined the differential impact of helicopter parenting on academic success and psychosocial wellbeing on both first-generation and non-first generation college students.
2022-2023 Student IDE Research
- Mason Drusano ’23 worked with Dr. Gili Freedman on his SMP in which he created a video continuum intervention to reduce social stigma towards individuals with psychotic symptoms.
- Isabella Moutoux ’23 worked with Dr. Gili Freedman on her SMP and SURF project which examined the roles of gender and sexual orientation in perceptions of ghosting acceptability.
- Summer Taylor ’23 worked with Dr. Howansky on her SMP exploring the link between visual attention and transphobia.
- Nick Ashenfelter ’22 worked with Dr. Howansky on his SMP about acephobia. He tested whether heterosexual, bisexual, and homosexual individuals differed in their evaluations of asexual people.
- Jetta Murphy ’23 used her SMP with Dr. Howansky to investigate online bullying of women gamers on TikTok.
- Sonder Van Wert ’23 and Dr. Howansky studied how role-playing video games facilitate gender identity development and exploration among transgender individuals. This work has been published in The Journal of Homosexuality.
- Julia Kochman ’23 worked with Dr. Tickle on an SMP that explored how the LGBTQ+ community uses TikTok for gaining information, making community connections, and finding support for identity exploration. This work was presented at the Eastern Psychological Association conference in March 2024.
2021-2022 Student IDE Research
- Alumna Erika Blair ’21 worked with Dr. Kristina Howansky to explore precursors to identity denial of bisexual individuals. Specifically, she tested how beliefs about the legitimacy of the bisexual identity lead to stereotyping and identity denial.
- Alumna Anna Kronheim ’21 is a former directed research and SMP student with Dr. Ayşe Ikizler who also collaborated on the MENA graduate student experience study with Rachel and Izzy.
- Rachel Lansbury ’22 worked with Dr. Ayşe Ikizler and her collaborators on a study about the experiences of Middle Eastern/North African (MENA) American graduate students in psychology.
- Maysen Salazar ’22 completed her SMP with Dr. Jennifer Tickle on ways to utilize virtual or augmented reality to facilitate inclusion of children with autism in the classroom.
- Alumna Izzy Lott ‘21 worked with Dr. Ayşe Ikizler and her collaborators on a study about the experiences of Middle Eastern/North African (MENA) American graduate students in psychology.
