On February 28, 2015, the Psyched for Life Team consisting of Angie Draheim (captain) and 4 of her family members, Aileen Bailey and 2 of her family members, Anne Marie Brady, Reneé Dennison, James Mantell and 1 of his family members, Mary McCarthy ’17, Scott Mirabile, and Jennifer Tickle participated in the 10-hour, 6th Annual SMCM American Cancer Society Relay for Life event. Virtual team members/fundraisers also included David Finkelman, Marianne Hamilton ’15, and Elizabeth Payne ’16. Overall, the team helped to raise general and brain cancer awareness as well as $5,201 for ACS research & patient support programs. The entire Relay event raised $27,340.
As part of their pre-event and on-site fundraising, the team raffled off three handmade quilts (pieced and donated by a breast cancer survivor in Angie’s family). One, called “Sara’s Cranberry Chutney Variation,” was won by Dr. Wes Jordan! At the event, the team also raffled off 2 sets of drinking glasses upcycled from wine bottles by Scott Mirabile. Reneé Dennison, Angie Draheim, and James Mantell stayed all night (well, until it was over at 4am) for the fight!
