Prerequisites vary for different vet schools. Common prerequisites include:

• Statistics
• Microbiology
• Biochemistry (I and in some cases II)
• Nutrition
• Anatomy

Students should create a spreadsheet of the schools they want to apply to and plan their course schedules to fulfill those courses before they graduate. It is not necessary to fulfill the prerequisites before you apply, but it is encouraged. Common veterinary schools for St. Mary’s students often include Virginia Tech (Maryland residents are considered “in state”), University of Pennsylvania, and Cornell.
