The Performing Arts major is committed to educating student artist/citizen scholars who are interested in examining the historical and cultural context of their work and engaging with the here-and-now by creating music, theater and dance that is relevant to their own local, national and global communities in the present day, using the collaborative skills of the performing arts to tackle issue and questions of importance. The coursework in the major prepares students to imagine the future of music, theater and dance and how they can use the skills they have learned to make and imagine new and exciting performance projects, ways of working and ways of communicating with audiences.
