The Zeta Chapter may choose to elect as honorary members current or retired faculty members.
The criteria are as follows:
- The faculty member is a full professor by rank in good standing or has retired with emeritus status
- The faculty member demonstrates an impressive and career-long scholarship record
- The faculty member demonstrates commitment to the intellectual life of the College including the intellectual growth of students.
Any faculty member at SMCM may nominate a professor that they think meets the criteria by submitting a letter of recommendation with the candidate’s CV via the nomination form by Oct. 15 for consideration in that year. The committee will review the nominations and make recommendations for a vote by the resident members at the annual meeting in February. A nominee must receive a unanimous vote by the quorum of members present at the annual meeting.
Alumni Members
Graduates of the institution of not less than ten years’ standing, who by contributions in the fields of the humane sciences and letters or by works of pure literature, have given clear evidence of the possession of distinguished scholarly capacities.
