The Multicultural Programs Office is all about creating an environment where everyone feels respected and heard. We’re here to celebrate and educate about the diverse identities of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Our squad works with students, faculty, and clubs to bring you awesome events, run educational programs, offer valuable resources, and support our multicultural student community.

Upcoming Events
This semester, students can look forward to a dynamic array of events and activities that celebrate and explore diverse identities and cultures. Our programming will offer opportunities for engagement through discussions, creative projects, and interactive sessions designed to foster an inclusive and supportive campus environment.
Expect to participate in activities that highlight multicultural awareness, celebrate significant cultural and identity-based observances, and provide platforms for expression and learning. From engaging in thought-provoking discussions to enjoying cultural showcases and hands-on creative sessions, there will be numerous ways to get involved and connect with the community.
Additionally, our events will provide spaces for relaxation and reflection, promoting well-being and inclusivity throughout the semester. Whether you are looking to explore new perspectives, celebrate your own cultural identity, or simply relax and enjoy the vibrant campus life, there’s something for everyone in our lineup of events.

The Unity Room
The Unity Room is a cultural resource room located in the campus center, next to Room 148. Multicultural Programming aims to enrich the learning environment by celebrating the cultural contributions of our diverse population. The Unity Room provides a space for students to build community, study, and hold meetings. It features comfortable chairs and couches for study breaks or sessions, free Wi-Fi, a manga library, a Unity Library with a collection of cultural books and magazines available for checkout, and links to cultural podcasts and documentaries. This space is designed to support students’ specific needs and enhance their academic and cultural experiences.
Internships
As an intern with the Multicultural Programs Office, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Assist with Programs and Initiatives: Contribute to programs and initiatives that celebrate and support diverse student identities, fostering a more inclusive campus environment.
- Collaborate with Off-Campus Partners and On-Campus Departments: Engage with various organizations and departments to plan and implement events, programs, and initiatives that promote cultural awareness and empowerment.
- Plan and Create Impactful Events: Help design and execute events that uplift historically marginalized groups, enhancing cultural understanding and community.
- Learn and Grow: Gain hands-on experience in multicultural programming, enhance your cultural awareness, and develop skills valuable for your future career.

Affinity Groups
We partner with student-led organizations, known as Affinity Groups, to provide programming that celebrates and supports our diverse population at St. Mary’s College of Maryland:
- Alianza: Dedicated to celebrating and supporting Latinx and Hispanic students and culture.
- APAC (Asian/Pacific-Islander American Culture Club): Focused on the celebration and exploration of Asian and Pacific-Islander cultures.
- ASA (African Student Association): Concentrates on African culture and community.
- BSU (Black Student Union): Supports and represents Black students.
- STARS (St. Mary’s Triangle and Rainbow Society): Advocates for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies.
- Transgenda: Provides support and empowerment for the transgender community and allies.
Through these groups, we strive to foster an inclusive environment and celebrate the rich diversity within our campus community.
