Lecturer of Educational Studies (Literacy)
The Department of Educational Studies at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for the position of Lecturer of Educational Studies, beginning August 2025. The lecturer of Educational Studies is on a nonrenewable 3-year contract and is a 10-month full-time position with a teaching load of 4 courses per semester.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a master’s degree in literacy education or a related field by the time of employment; a doctoral degree is preferred. Expected areas of expertise include early/elementary literacy development, reading interventions, and the science of reading. A minimum of three years of teaching experience is necessary, preferably in grades K-5. Applicants must be able to work effectively with historically marginalized students. Preferred qualifications include effective collaborations with K-12 and community partnerships, experience with edTPA, experience teaching at the university level, and experience conducting research. Teaching responsibilities involve undergraduate and graduate coursework on literacy development. They may also include elementary and early childhood methods in science, math, or social studies. Ability to teach courses on special education or teaching English learners is desirable. Salary ranges is $60k - $65k, depending on qualifications and experience.
