Assistant Professor of Afro-Latinx Literature of English
The Department of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Afro-Latinx Literature in English, beginning August 2025. Applicants with expertise in Afro-Latinx Literature, Chicanx Literature, or Comparative Literature are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities may include the College’s liberal arts seminars (which serve as the required course for first year and transfer students), Introduction to Literature, Creative Writing, and topics courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. All professors at St. Mary’s are expected to contribute to the college-wide core curriculum as well as to their departmental curriculum.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Afro-Latinx Studies, Latinx Studies, or a related field and be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Proficiency in Spanish strongly desired. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable. Salary range is $70K to $75k, depending on qualifications and experience.
