Annual Giving Officer
St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting résumés for the position of Annual Giving Officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement. The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for developing and executing a robust multi-faceted annual solicitation program, across College constituencies, that grows private support for the College’s strategic initiatives and fundraising priorities. The Annual Giving Officer will create and implement a comprehensive plan that includes unique, targeted communication strategies to qualify, educate, and engage alumni to help build the donor pipeline and increase the alumni giving rate; and will also generate themes and draft messaging in keeping with the College’s brand – inclusive of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship – for fundraising initiatives as well as produce segmented, cornerstone annual giving appeals. The Annual Giving Officer will assist with the planning and execution of Institutional Advancement’s dynamic programs and events with key roles in Alumni Weekend and Giving Tuesday.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred with a minimum of three to five years of fundraising experience in an educational institution, nonprofit or comparable setting. The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to develop and implement fundraising initiatives and appeals to meet goals and ensure effective returns. Experience in marketing and communications for fundraising is a plus. The candidate must have strong communication (written and oral), organizational/planning, and technology skills and a proven ability to interact successfully with a variety of constituents including alumni, faculty and staff, students and families, and friends of the College. Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state is required and must possess a valid driver’s license. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
