OVERVIEW OF HHMI AT SMCM
The HHMI Inclusive Excellence 3 (IE3) Project will support the college in reflecting upon and ultimately restructuring the way it facilitates, evaluates and rewards teaching and learning practices that center on diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and access (DEIJA). It will accomplish this goal by engaging with faculty, staff, and administrators in understanding and implementing inclusive teaching at the college to increase student success.

I am the Program Director (PD) for the HHMI IE3 Project at SMCM. The focus of this grant is to increase the use of teaching and learning practices centered on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accountability through changing incentive structures at the institution. As the PD at SMCM, I work with my team to coordinate efforts towards this overarching goal by ensuring that: a) key stakeholders are involved at appropriate levels, b) the decisions made are data-driven, and c) the processes that result from these efforts are in alignment with the college mission and vision.
