From world-class facilities to an accomplished group of faculty that knows each of their students individually, the Department of Biology will provide the tools that will help students achieve their personal and professional goals whatever they may be.

Our curriculum is developmental in nature, designed to introduce and reinforce concepts and skills through a well integrated set of four core courses and associated laboratories.

Our courses of instruction range from introductory courses for biology majors and non-majors to advanced instruction in the various subdisciplines in biology.

Depth is provided within the biology major by courses that focus on progressively more specific aspects of selected subject areas within biology.

Advanced courses, many including student-designed research projects, round out a biology student’s education and frequently lead to the St. Mary’s Project.
