Through our partnership, we provide you in-the-classroom experience. Together, we support our local PreK-12 students.

An MAT student teaching a single student

As students complete our minor, they will have a great deal of exposure (46 to 64 required hours, depending on coursework) to real public school classrooms. They will have the opportunity to observe teachers, and sometimes tutor students in these classrooms.

In our MAT program, our goal is to immerse you in the classroom from day one. Our 10-month internship program ensures that you have the knowledge, confidence, and skills to succeed.

You’ll spend half your time in the public school system, and the other half taking graduate courses. During the spring semester, you’ll start the day in school. After school lets out, you’ll return to SMCM for your graduate courses.

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act, SMCM publishes an Annual Security & Fire Safety Report. The report contains information regarding campus safety and security including crime reporting, crime prevention, college policies, drug and alcohol abuse, and sexual misconduct. The report also contains the three previous years’ crime and fire statistics for on campus locations, non-campus locations and adjacent public property.
