As a public institution in the State of Maryland we must differentiate between students who have lived in the state of Maryland for at least 12 months prior to attending St. Mary's College and those who have not. Since St. Mary's College is supported in part by funds generated by Maryland state income taxes, out-of-state students can expect a higher tuition rate. If you have been an out-of-state student but believe you now may qualify as an in-state student, please review the policy written below and download a Residency Re-classification Application.
If you have questions and you are an incoming student currently going through the admission process, contact Wes Jordan, Dean of Admissions at (240) 895-5000. If you are a continuing student who has been attending St. Mary's College, you may contact Susan Bennett, Registrar at (240) 895-4336.
You can download the Policy on Student Residency Classification for Admission, Tuition, and Charge-Differential Purposes and the Petition for Change in Classification for Tuition in PDF format here.
