Award-winning author and poet Laila Halaby will read from her works at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Daugherty-Palmer Commons at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She is the recipient of a Fulbright scholarship for the study of folklore in Jordan, a PEN/Beyond Margins Award, and is the author of two novels and a forthcoming collection of poetry. Refreshments will be served after the event, part of the college’s VOICES Reading Series, which is supported in part by the Maryland Humanities Council.
