Poet Naomi Shihab Nye, who draws on her Palestinian-American heritage and travel experiences, will read from her works at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Daugherty-Palmer Commons at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She is an award-winning author and editor of more than 25 volumes. Her books of poetry include a National Book Award finalist and the 2008 Arab American Book Award in the Children's/Young Adult category. Refreshments will be served after the public event, part of the college’s VOICES Reading Series, which is supported in part by the Maryland Humanities Council.
