St. Mary's Selects Finalists for Presidential Search
Dear Campus Community,
The Presidential Search Committee met off-campus on February 26-27 to interview 11 semi-finalists for our presidency. We were very impressed with the quality of the candidates and thank search consultant Kate Haley of Witt/Kieffer for her diligence in producing a strong array of options. In our discussion after the interviews, the committee formed an overwhelming consensus around three candidates.
It is with great pleasure that I announce our three presidential finalists and their campus visit dates:
Thursday, March 6: Dr. Charles Caramello , Associate Provost for Academic Affairs/Dean of the Graduate School/Professor of English at the University of Maryland
Tuesday, March 11: Dr. Kim Mooney, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Franklin Pierce University
Thursday, March 13: Dr. Tuajuanda Jordan, Dean of the College, Lewis & Clark College
Multiple sessions with faculty, staff and students will occur throughout the visit day. An Open Forum will be held in St. Mary’s Hall at 4:10 pm that will also be promoted beyond the campus to alums and the local community. The Open Forum will be videotaped so that those who could not attend can review the session the next day. Trustees will meet the candidates at lunch and dinner opportunities.
The Board of Trustees deeply values the input of the campus community in this important decision. A feedback survey will be provided under separate cover that may be submitted online or by hard copy for each candidate. The feedback will be compiled by the Presidential Search Committee and provided to the Board of Trustees to inform our decision-making process.
The Board of Trustees will meet in executive session during the week of March 15 to review the campus feedback and have a discussion with the Presidential Search Committee, after which the board will select the candidate to be our next president. After consultation with the candidate, we will announce our next president in the near future.
I hope that each and every one of you will be able to meet our finalists when they are on campus. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank you for your participation in this important decision for St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Gail Harmon, Chair
Presidential Search Committee
