The Office of Institutional Research & Reporting (OIR&R) is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data about the College in support of internal decision-making and planning. The office also complies with requests from external agencies. Accreditation: St. Mary's College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Carnegie Foundation Classification for the College is "Baccalaureate - Arts and Sciences." SMCM was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter in the fall of 1997.
Typical annual costs: for 2009-2010 for a full-time student living on campus with room and board: $23,174 (Maryland residents) and $34,567 (out-of-state students).
Student organizations in Fall 2009: 117 campus clubs and organizations and 8 national honor societies.
Athletic teams: NCAA Division III teams: Baseball (men only), Basketball, Cross Country, Field Hockey (women only), Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis, Swimming, and Volleyball (women only). In addition, the nationally ranked SMCM Varsity Sailing Team competes in ICSA sponsored events.
